Alef-Lam-Mim Interpretation
"Alef-Lam-Mim" - this word has no translation. These three letters that are combined together have no apparent meaning; They are not derived from any Arabic or any other language root; What exists, like these abbreviated nouns that are common in the languages of the world, is only a combination of the letters "Alef", "Lam", "Mim"."What is the purpose of this combination of letters and why did the Lord of the Universe put these letters at the beginning of this Surah, they have said many things about this
The existence of disjoined letters in 29 surahs of the Qur'an
In the 29 surahs of the Qur'an, these lowercase letters or disjoined letters are mentioned. Let us note that the Arabic alphabet also has 29 letters, perhaps this itself is a code and a hint. Of course, in some surahs, there is a single letter, for example "ص" or "ق", "ن". And such that the first sentence starts with an abbreviation, in some places, there are two letters such as "Taha" and "Yasin" and so on; In some places there are three letters such as "الم" and "الر" and so on; In some places, there are four letters, like "المر" and in some places, like "کهیعص" which is five letters and "حم عسق" which is five letters. The sum of the disjoined letters used in these 29 surahs is half of the letters of the Qur'an. which is 28 letters, which itself can be a secret and a reference to it
Description of the Qur'an after most of the disjoined letters in the Qur'an
Usually, except for 3-4 few cases, whenever these letters are used, the Quran is mentioned immediately after that
, the beginning of Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 1, " الم ذلک الکتاب لاریب فیه ",
the begining of surrah Yones , " الر تلک ایات الکتاب الحکیم "
"verse 2, Surah Jathiyah, "حم، تنزیل الکتاب من الله العزیز الحکیم "
"یس والقران الحکیم" the verses at the beginning of Surah Yasin
The presence of all types of characters in disjoined letters
Another point about these letters is that in these fourteen letters that have been used, letters have been selected that have all the main properties of Arabic letters in them; If you refer to Tajweed, they have mentioned properties for Arabic letters in the position of pronunciation, when you want to pass those letters on the tongue, or to put it more correctly out of the larynx and mouth; For example, the characteristic of this word is that it is pronounced with concentration; The characteristic of that letter is that it is pronounced from the throat, for example, the characteristic of this letter is that it should cover the entire mouth. There are characteristics that if you want to speak Arabic correctly, you must observe these characteristics of letters when speaking. In some of these characteristics, for example, one letter is included, some two letters, as they said, in these 14 letters that are used in the cut letters of the beginning of the surahs, all the main characteristics that exist in Arabic letters can be seen. So see that these letters have been chosen carefully and calculated.
One of the secrets of disjoined letters
One of the sayings that they have said, and it is not unlikely that it is true - because these are among the things that cannot be reasoned logically - is that by placing these letters at the beginning of some surahs, the Almighty God, to his audience, who suffered from the greatness of these words He is amazed to understand that these words with this glory, with this beauty and with this greatness are composed of these ordinary letters: "Alef", "Lam", "Ain", "Mim", "Ra", "Sad", this is one of There are aspects that the commentators have said. With this attention, the importance of the artistic miracle of the Qur'an becomes more apparent, it is like a master architect has made a very beautiful building, and then he tells you to ask for this brick, this plaster, this flower, that is, this building. With this greatness, with this beauty, made of the same materials; What can you make from these materials? What can you make from the dead soil? You can make the same ordinary materials and the same buildings, but God Almighty and God's great power created a living creature from this soil, that is, a human being
An Arab Muslim, Mohammad Rashad Khalifa (1990-1935 AD) says on these verses of the Quran with computer calculations that he had, in every surah it has these words, the ratio of these letters that are used in the beginning of this surah is more than the ratio of these letters in other surah, he claims. That is, for example, in Surah Al-Baqarah, "Alef", "Lam" and "Mim" in this Surah are more than the ratio of these three letters in any other Surah compared to other letters. Or "Sad" in the beginning of Surah "Sad" - which is easier to experience - compared to all the letters used in this Surah, it is a higher ratio compared to other Surahs. This is his claim; it may be so
However, this does not clarify the meaning of "Alef" "Lam" "Mim" for us. When we look, we see that in most of these cases, that is, in 25 cases, after these disjoined letters are used, God has said something about the Qur'an, which also conveys a relationship to the human mind, and it turns out to be a relationship. It is between these letters and between the definition of the Qur'an and the expression of the Qur'an
