Indeed, we sent down the Quran on the night of Decree
God accomplishes the affairs of the world through angels and through their intermediary. Therefore, in many verses of the Quran, verbs and pronouns related to God are in the plural. As it says at the beginning of this Surah: “Indeed, We have sent it down
We have sent down the Quran
According to the opinion of commentators, the Quran was sent down twice. Once in one go on the Night of Qadr, which this Surah refers to, and once more gradually over the twenty-three years of the Prophet’s mission. The Quranic interpretations regarding the sending down of this heavenly book are also of two types. Some use the word “anzalna” from the root anzala, meaning a sudden sending down, while others use the word “nazzalna” from the root tanzil, meaning a gradual sending down
From the combination of the verse “Indeed, We have sent it down on the Night of Decree
with the verse “The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was sent down
, it is clear that the Night of Decree is in the month of Ramadan, but as to which night of Ramadan it is, there is nothing in the Quran to indicate it, and in the narrations it is mentioned hesitantly between one of the three nights. As Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) was asked about the Night of Decree: He said: Search for it on the nineteenth, twenty-first, and twenty-third nights of Ramadan. Of course, it is well known among the Sunnis that the twenty-seventh night of Ramadan is the Night of Decree
Messages
- The Night of Decree is the night of thanksgiving and gratitude to God. Because the most important blessing of God to mankind, namely the Quran, has been revealed
- The container and the contents must be appropriate. The best book is revealed on the best
night to the best people. "Indeed, We sent it down on the Night of Qadr
And what do you know about the Night of Qadr? The Night of Qadr is better than a thousand months
Points
The word “Qadr” is used in the Quran in several meanings
a) Position and status. As it says: “And they did not determine Allah with His true destiny
They did not recognize the divine position and status as they should
b) Destiny and fate. As it says: “You have come by destiny, O Moses
O Moses, you have come by divine destiny (to this holy place)
c) Difficulty and hardship. As it says: And he for whom His provision is limited and difficult
The first two meanings are appropriate for the Night of Decree, because the Night of Decree is both a night of status and a night of destiny
It has existence, account, book, destiny and measure. “And there is nothing but with Us are its treasures, and We do not send it down except in a known measure
There is nothing but with Us is its treasure, and We do not send it down except in a known measure. Even the amount of rain that falls from the sky is calculated. “And We send down from the clouds water in due measure
Not only rain, but everything has a measure with Him. “And everything has a due measure
Just as the sun and the moon have a precise account and book in terms of their size, weight, movement, and orbit. And “the sun and the moon are by reckoning
On the Night of Decree, God determines the affairs of a year, as the Quran says elsewhere
“In it every matter is determined by the Wise”
On that night, every important matter is determined. Therefore, Laylat al-Qadr is not limited to the night of the revelation of the Quran and the Prophet's era, but in every Ramadan, there is a Laylat al-Qadr on which the affairs of the next year until the next Laylat al-Qadr are measured and determined
Staying awake on Laylat al-Qadr and reviving it with supplication, prayer, and the Quran was recommended by the Prophet and his household, and among the three nights, they placed the most emphasis on the twenty-third night
As someone asked the Prophet: Our home is far from Medina, designate a night for me to come to the city. The Prophet said: Enter Medina on the twenty-third night
While Imam Sadiq (a.s.) was sick, they wanted to take him to the mosque on the twenty-third night, and Hazrat Zahra (a.s.) would sprinkle water on the faces of the children on this night, preventing them from sleeping
It is stated in the narrations that in the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet would gather his sleeping mat and revive it for ten nights
In a long hadith from the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), we read that Prophet Moses (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to God: "O Allah, I seek Your nearness." The answer was: "My nearness is in waking up" on the Night of Qadr. He said: "O Allah, I seek Your mercy." The answer was: "My mercy is in showing mercy to the poor on the Night of Qadr." He said: "O Allah, I seek permission to cross the Sirat." The answer was: "The secret to crossing the Sirat(صراط) is charity on the Night of Qadr." He said: "O Allah, I seek Paradise and its blessings." The answer was: "Achievement is dependent on reciting Tasbih on the Night of Qadr." He said: "O Allah, I seek salvation from the Fire of Hell." The answer was: "The secret to salvation from Hell is seeking forgiveness on the Night of Qadr." Finally, he said: "O Allah, I seek Your pleasure." The answer was: "The one who is eligible for My pleasure is the one who prays on the Night of Qadr." One of the strange historical events is the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (a.s.) on the Night of Qadr, in the mihrab of worship and during prayer. Yes, the noblest of God's creation, was martyred in the noblest of places and times, in the noblest of circumstances
Night has a special place in spiritual matters, which we will mention in a few cases
God called Hazrat Moses to pray at night to give the Torah: أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً
The Quran considers the appropriate time for seeking forgiveness to be at dawn
The Prophet's ascension to heaven was at night
"Allah took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque"
The Prophet was ordered to pray and worship at night
, "Qum-el-Lail Ella ghalila
"قم الّلیل الّا قلیلا
God praises the worshipers at night. "Reciting the verses of Allah, Anaa Al-Layl
«يَتْلُونَ آياتِ اَللّهِ آناءَ اَللَّيْلِ
And orders to pray at night.
"و سبّحه لیلا طویلا"
In the Qur'an, God has sworn once to dawn and three times to night
The length of Laylat al-Qadr is a complete night on Earth, which is 24 hours, not just a specific place like Mecca, which is the equivalent of 8 hours of the night in that region. Just as the meaning of Eid al-Fitr is a complete day on Earth, which includes all places and regions
The coincidence of the Night of Decree with the night of the revelation of the Quran may be a symbol that the fate of humanity depends on the Quran. If he follows the Quran, he will be blessed with happiness and salvation, and if he is far from the Quran, he will be miserable
Abu Dharr said: I asked the Messenger of God, “Did the Night of Qadr exist during the time of the prophets and was the command revealed to them, and after they passed away, the command was suspended on that night?” The Prophet said: “It is the Night of Qadr until the Day of Judgment
Perhaps the secret of the Night of Qadr being hidden is that people worship on multiple nights, so that those who have realized it one night will not be proud, and those who have not realized it will not be disappointed with the remaining nights. It is stated in the narrations: “A good deed in it is better than a good deed in a thousand months without the Night of Qadr
Messages
- Choose a sacred time for sacred matters. “The Night of Qadr is better than a thousand months
- Times are not the same, many of times are better than others. “The Night of Qadr is better than a thousand months
. Times are not the same, many of times are better than others
On that night, the angels and the spirit descend by the permission of their Lord to do whatever they want
Points
They asked Imam Sadiq (a.s.): Is the spirit the same as Gabriel? He said: Gabriel is one of the angels, and the spirit is superior to the angels. Then he recited this verse:
تَنَزَّلُ اَلْمَلاِكَةُ وَ اَلْرُّوَح
With the angels descending upon the heart of the Prophet and the infallible Imam on the Night of Qadr, the connection between the earth and the sky, the kingdom with the Celestial Realm, and nature with the supernatural is established
The spirit has several types - thespirit that is the source of desires the spirit that is the source of power and movements. These two spirits are common to humans and animals. - the spirit that is the source of choice and thought, which is specific to humans
The soul that is pure intellect and constitutes the existential essence of angels-
A soul that is superior to angels and descends to earth with them on the Night of Qadr
It is stated in the narrations that you should argue with those who deny Imamate with Surah Qadr. Because according to this Surah, angels descend every year on the Night of Qadr. During the life of the Prophet, they entered upon the noble being of His Holiness. After that, to whom do they descend? It is clear that not everyone can be the host of the divine angels and he must be infallible like the Prophet and the guardianship of human affairs is his responsibility and he is none other than the infallible Imam who in our time is Hazrat Mahdi (peace be upon him) and the angels come to him on the Night of Qadr
A Look at Angels in the Quran
Angels are the agents of the system of existence and are responsible for carrying out the commands of God in the administration of affairs. In the Quran, each group of angels has a specific mission and role assigned to them, and they are named according to that mission: “Al-Naze’at”, “Al-Sa’affat”, “Al-Zajirat”, “Al-Nash’irat”, “Al-Fariqat”, “Al-Mudabirat”. Some angels are assigned to protect you. “Indeed, upon you are guardians”
Some angels converse with the saints of God. They spoke to Zachariah and gave him the good news of a son named Yahya.
And the same angels spoke to Maryam“When the angels said, “O Maryam
In some cases, the angels’ assistance to the warriors on the battlefields has been mentioned. As in the Battle of Badr, God sent three thousand angels to help the Muslims. “Your Lord will provide you with three thousand of the angels
Some angels are responsible for taking people’s lives. “The angel of death will take you away
And another group is responsible for the affairs of the Throne. “He carries the Throne of your Lord.” «
Among the privileges of the angels is their constant and tireless worship, as the Quran says: And those with Him are not arrogant in worshipping Him, nor do they feel ashamed
Among the other duties of the angels is to pray and seek forgiveness for the believers. “They ask forgiveness for those on earth.”
And blessings are upon the Prophet of Islam. “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet.
Angels have degrees and are not all on the same level and position. Just as He has given some prophets precedence over others, He has also chosen some from among the angels
Allah selects from among the angels
Not all angels have the same power and have different capacities. Some are obedient and some are commanders, but all are infallible and trustworthy.
Belief in all angels is required, “Everyone who believes in Allah and His angels
And denying them is along with denying Allah. “And whoever disbelieves in Allah and His angels
The angels are the army of Allah and no one knows their number except Allah. “And none knows the army of your Lord except Him”
And if sometimes the number of them is mentioned as seemingly small, such as the verse Nineteen of them “which says: The guardians of Hell are nineteen, there are other reasons, not because of lack of strength
Angels are completely obedient to God and do whatever they are commanded to do and never disobey
Their obedience is conscious and based on divine piety and in obedience they do not choose a specific task, but rather they do whatever is assigned to them. “They fear their Lord above them and do what they are commanded”
The Prophet of Islam said: The creation of angels is all from light. “Indeed, Allah, the Most High, created the angels from light
And Allah has not created any creature as numerous as the angels
Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said: Angels are not capable of eating, drinking or having sexual intercourse
Messages
- Angels do not do anything without God's permission
- The decree of affairs on the Night of Qadr is made by the descent and presence of angels
The decree of affairs on the Night of Qadr is a part of God's Lordship
That night until dawn is full of peace and blessings
Points
Salam is one of the names of God in the Quran. He is Allah, the One, there is no god but He is the King, the Holy. Peace
The meaning of "Salam" in this verse is the special grace and care of God towards His servants on the Night of Qadr, which brings peace, mercy, and blessings and closes the door to wrath and punishment, because the tricks and temptations of Satan do not take effect on that night
On the Night of Qadr, angels descend to earth and greet every man and woman who is in worship, just as they will greet the people of Paradise on the Day of Judgment: “Peace be upon you, you have done well, so enter them forever
messages
“Peace is until the breaking of dawn.” Laylat al-Qadr is the night of peace in the mind and soul of man and exaltation to Allah
Laylat al-Qadr is the night of mercy, and one can attract Allah’s favors by repenting
God’s decree of affairs is based on human happiness, unless he himself wishes otherwise
